Dear Friends and Supporters,
Atlanta Printmakers Studio continues to have a busy schedule of exciting printmaking-related programming. We want to share some of the highlights and ask that you consider a donation to support our general fund. Your tax-deductible contribution will support our ongoing operating expenses and these specific programs:

The mission of APS is to promote printmaking as a vibrant art form, and the core is our studio facility. We offer a year-round variety of classes and workshops, and provide space and equipment for printmakers to work. Executive Director Kathy Garrou keeps the studio and its programs running smoothly. Interns and other volunteers also play a key role.

Our main programs outside the studio are Community Outreach and Exhibitions. We love to share printmaking with young artists, and can provide childrens printmaking activities at neighborhood art festivals like Grant Park Summer Shade. This and other programs are a way to introduce both children and adults to the art of printmaking and let them give it a try.
We organize exhibits at various locations around the metro-Atlanta area, presenting many different forms of printmaking and giving our artist members a chance to show their work. We also held the first Atlanta Print Biennial in November 2011, hosted by Barbara Archer Gallery, which brought the work of top national and international printmakers to Atlanta. Upcoming exhibit plans are in the works.

Print Big! is a community event, where 10 different groups print huge woodblocks with a steamroller. This year the event is being held on April 14th. The focus of Print Big! 2012 is fun, creativity, and collaboration. The theme of the designs of this year's prints celebrate books, reading and literature and we are proud to be partnering with the Literacy Alliance of Metro Atlanta (LAMA) to support their efforts to eradicate illiteracy.

Another important program is our Emerging Artist Residency, which is in its fourth year. This gives the chosen artists six months access to the studio, along with a stipend, personal mentoring, and the opportunity to take a free class or workshop. The goal is to nurture these artists professionally, helping them create and exhibit their printmaking project.
Private donations are what established the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, and they continue to be a significant part of our financial sustainability and growth. We are pleased to have funding from the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund and the Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs but this only covers a small portion of our expenses. Please give what you can to support our ongoing programs any amount is appreciated! If you are already a supporting member, please consider increasing your support level or consider purchasing one of our Collectors Prints, which benefits APS.
