Print Big! 2018

Saturday, October 20 10am - 4pm at Hudgens Center for the Arts.

This event is open to the public, and attendance is free.

Print Big! 2018 is our 9th year running this annual community art event!

The goal of Print Big! reflects the mission of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio – to support and celebrate the vitality of printmaking and to educate the community about this historic image-making medium. The focus of Print Big! is fun, creativity, and collaboration. Participating groups from Georgia, featuring artists, community organizations, and college, university, and high school students, will design and carve 4’x8’ woodblocks that will be printed on the day of the event with a steamroller.

Print Big! features festivities that include hands-on printmaking activities, artist market, food, and much more!

We are looking for artists interested in selling their art during the Print Big! event at the Hudgens Center. This event is part of Gwinnett county’s Bicentennial Celebration and is expected to bring a good size audience of art lovers. Open to printmakers, as well as, all other artists mediums.

Lend a Hand!  No experience necessary. All helping hands welcome!

SET UP CREW: One of the most important jobs at the event. Great for someone who can show up on time! Assist in hanging directional signs, setting up tables & tents, hanging balloons and blocking off driveway. Help with steamroller printing set up and block registration.

PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS: We can’t be everywhere at once. We would love help documenting the event and need great photos and video to use in our publicity material, website and to impress our sponsors. If you are willing to provide APS use of images and edit/put on CD/DVD we will credit your work.

MAKE YOUR OWN PRINT AREA: Help inspire the young and young at heart by assisting in this hands on activity. Participants will ink up stencils and blocks with Tree and nature themes and stamp to make colorful prints to take home. If you would like to help prepare the stencils, paper, etc the week before the event let us know.

MEMBERSHIP & CHECK-IN TABLE: For outgoing folks who will encourage everyone to become an APS member and help support an awesome organization! Direct groups and volunteers on where go and hand out volunteer t-shirts. A good option for those who prefer to sit down under the shade of a tent!

BLOCK INKING & MOVING: Be in the center of the action. Perfect for the strong volunteer not afraid to get their hands dirty. Help students ink their blocks and move them from tables to pavement to prepare for the printing.

PRINT HANDLERS: For the careful, clean hands type. Help to place the fabric over the inked block and lower blankets before the steamroller does its thing. Hang prints up on iron fence for all to admire.

ARTIST MARKET: For outgoing folks who will encourage everyone to but APS cards, prints, and swag! Man the APS table in the Artist Market selling items and collecting payments. A good option for those who prefer to sit down under the shade of a tent!

CLEAN UP CREW: The perfect end to a wonderful day! Help take down tents, put away tables, move prints inside, clean rollers & blocks, tidy studio and eat up all the left-over food. Adult beverages provided.
