Located near downtown Atlanta, APS offers the community classes in a wide range of techniques, utilizing equipment available in our printmaking studio. The small, hands-on classes foster creative exchange with instructors and fellow students, and all classes are led by professional artists actively working in Atlanta’s print community, as well as, talented visiting artists. Choose a class that explores a new interest, or refines previous experience. Both beginners and advanced professional artists will find classes at appropriate skill levels. On the occasion that a class requires some experience, we will note that in the course listing. Class sizes are limited so that each student will receives quality-individualized instruction. REGISTERING FOR A CLASS OR WORKSHOP

For all classes and workshops, full payment is required to reserve a seat and guarantee enrollment.

Register 2 weeks before the class begins and receive a discount.

Paying with check: Download and complete the appropriate registration form and mail it to APS.

Paying with credit card: Download the appropriate registration form and email the completed form (or the information can be typed into the text of the email) to Jerushia Graham, Education Director, and ask to register with a credit card. You will receive a PayPal invoice via email with a link to make your one-time payment. You do not need a PayPal account.

CANCELLATION POLICY

For cancellations made at least 10 days prior to the first class/workshop, we will refund 100% of the full tuition minus a $10 administrative fee, or give 100% credit towards a future APS class to be used within the following 3 months. For cancellations made with less than 10 days notice, you will receive a 50% refund. No refund is available if student cancels within 48 hours of the class/workshop unless we are able to fill your spot from a waiting list.

APS reserves the right to cancel any class because of low enrollment; you will be notified and your class fee will be refunded.


SPRING 2017 CLASS

Letterpress
Instructors: Jason Kofke
8-week class
Sundays:  March 19 - May 7, 2017
Time: 6:30-9:30pm

Students will learn the basics of letterpress, from setting type, lock-up, printing and cleaning plus the redistribution of type. Students will be comfortable using both Chandler and Price Presses as well as Vandercooke Presses by the end of the 8-week session. Class will include instruction for registration of type and image, as well as teach proper studio etiquette clean up and safety. Students of all levels are welcome.

Jason Kofke is a recipient of a 2015 ELEVATE (Atlanta) Award, a 2011 Artadia Grant and a 2009 Idea Capital Grant. He has been awarded residencies at The Canadian Wilderness Residency Program in Yukon, Canada, The Creative Project in Atlanta, Georgia, The Arctic Circle Project in Svalbard, Norway, Milkwood Residency in the Czech Republic, ARCUS Project in Japan, Odysseys Residency in Costa Rica, Long Stories Project in Perm, Russia, ArtPrint Residence in Barcelona, Spain, Living Walls Conference in Atlanta, USA, the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China, and the Elizabeth Foundation in New York City.

Kofke’s work has been exhibited at the A4 Center for Contemporary Asian Art, Sydney, Australia, the HIGH Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA,, FLUX projects in Atlanta, Kai Lin Gallery in Atlanta, The Elizabeth Foundation in NYC, Fuse Gallery, NYC, The Gallery of China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China, Arthouse Gallery in Brooklyn, NYC, ARCUS Studio in Moriya, Japan, Artspace Gallery in Richmond, VA, and RED Gallery in Savannah GA.

He earned his BFA in 2005 and MFA in 2010 from The Savannah College of Art and Design as well as a Visiting Scholar Recognition from the China Academy of Art.
